Whenever we visit family in Devon, we try to squeeze in a visit to Dartmoor if we can. We usually head to Two Bridges or Princetown and drive round stopping off periodically to take photos of the beautiful scenery or to sample a cream tea.
On our Westcountrymum Twitter feed we try to follow people and businesses in the South West area. The other day we came across the Dartbridge Inn and decided to give them a follow. The restaurant has very recently undergone an extensive refurbishment and from the photos on their Twitter account and online, it looked great.
As we were visiting family this week, we decided to book a table for Wednesday lunchtime.
From the outside the restaurant looked lovely. It’s literally just off the A38 (about 30 mins from Exeter), very close to the River Dart Country Park and has quite a large car park which was handy as it was quite busy when we arrived.
When we got inside, we were really impressed with the decor and interior. It had that lovely country pub feel but with a modern twist and some quirky touches such as these rather cool plaques made from tree stumps.
After being shown to our table we were handed the menu and were impressed with the selection. We didn’t go for starters this time but could have had chicken wings, olives or a sharing platter to name but a few.
The three adults all chose various burgers – cheddar and bacon, chicken and southern fried chicken all served with rosemary chips and coleslaw. They were very reasonably priced at between £8.99 and £9.99. The kids menu was pretty good too (£5.99 for main meal, dessert and fruit shoot) and it was easy for TJ for find something for him to eat – he went for Mac ‘n’ cheese with garlic bread which looked absolutely delicious.
Although pretty full after our burgers, we decided to treat ourselves to dessert and weren’t disappointed. TJ had the chocolate brownie as part of the kids meal and we ordered a milionaire’s caramel cheesecake and a chocolate brownie flower pot with edible soil!
Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and was very impressed with the location and the food choices. We ordered off the main menu but they also offer a daytime menu with meals starting at £4.99 which is fantastic value.
We would highly recommend the Dartbridge Inn and look forward to going back there again soon.
*We were very lucky to be offered a “tweat” from the Dartbridge Inn offering a discount off our food bill. All views however are our own.
